Object Management Group Issued Real-time Publish-Subscribe Protocol TCP Platform Specific Model RFP
Needham, MA – November 3, 2017 – The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, held its quarterly Technical Meeting from September 25-29 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel inNew Orleans, Louisiana. The Platform Technical Committee issued an RFP for a Real-time Publish-Subscribe Protocol TCP Platform Specific Model specification.
This RFP is requesting a Platform Specific Mapping of RTPS that would enable OMG Data-Distribution Service™ implementations to take advantage of TCP capabilities. The Data-Distribution Service is a mature and proven connectivity standard at the center of Industrial IoT mission- and business-critical systems.
RFP submitter and OMG member, Fernando Garcia from Real-Time Innovations said, “Participating in this RFP will contribute to strengthening the DDS ecosystem, enabling DDS applications to communicate over TCP in a standard manner. This will facilitate new interoperability scenarios in the context of the Industrial Internet of Things, where some applications require the use of TCP for communication through firewalls and leverage TCP-based load-balancing systems.”
Letters of Intent are due on November 27, 2018, and initial submissions are due on February 19, 2018 and revised submission in June 2018.
