Object Management Group Issued DDS Status Monitoring RFP

Needham, MA – November 3, 2017 – The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, held its quarterly Technical Meeting from September 25-29 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Domain Technical Committee issued a detailed RFP for a DDS™ Status Monitoring  specification.

The OMG Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS) standard provides a crucial connectivity platform to many mission-critical systems.  As DDS continues its maturation in mission-critical applications, it is important to have a standardized means to independently monitor the health status of a DDS platform during live operation because system flaws or external influences can degrade performance. This potential standard will help aggregate the data to enable smart tools to detect trends in the data.

One of the RFP authors and OMG member, Matthew Wilson, Vice President and Principal Engineer at SimVentions said, “By participating in this RFP, systems and network health monitoring tool vendors have the opportunity to influence the future direction of a potential standard that includes techniques, procedures, and interfaces to monitor and communicate the status of the DDS platform.”

Letters of Intent are due on November 6, 2017, and submissions due on May 21, 2018.
