Health Community Summit to be Held at OMG Technical Meeting in Berlin
Will focus on evolving an open eHealth platform

Needham, MA- 04-09-2013-The Object Management Group (OMG®) is pleased to announce the Health Community Summit which will take place at the consortium's quarterly technical meeting in Berlin, Germany. It will be cosponsored by HL7 Germany and HL7 International. The summit will take place on Monday, June 17th at the Radisson Blu Hotel and will provide a format for exploring challenges and potential solutions for key elements which will foster effective interchange and ultimately become an enabler for eHealth.

Uniting presentations and case studies with community dialogue to chart a course for eHealth that is practical and implementable, the summit will be highly interactive and engaging for attendees, fostering an inclusive and transparent community. The program will include case studies from Victoria Health (Australia), the Mayo Clinic (US), and the National Health Service (UK) as well as sessions with topics including: information representation, architectural services, business policies, and more.

"Worldwide, the importance that has surfaced and the attention now being paid to effective health information-sharing across geographies and cultures has never been higher, yet consistently these efforts are thwarted either by business barriers, incompatible policies, aged or inappropriate technology, or variances among the information being shared and how that information is represented," said Ken Rubin, Chair of the OMG Healthcare Task Force. "Despite the global attention to these matters, in no place are these concerns more prevalent than within the EU. With a fluid population crossing country boundaries daily, and recent developments clearly granting EU citizens access to medical care and treatment regardless of where they are within Europe, an urgency has emerged to discover practical approaches that can overcome what have traditionally been barriers to these objectives."

The keynote speech will be given by Paul Jones, the Chief Technology Officer for Health at Serco Ltd, an international service company that improves the quality and efficiency of essential services that matter to millions of people around the world. At Serco, he is responsible for Health IT Strategy and for supporting the growth of Serco in the health domain.

Pricing for the summit begins at $150 USD. For more information on this event, click here.
